Raw Feeling Lingering While Drizzle Sticks Around

Today (Tuesday): Raw with showers and drizzle. Highs only in the 40s. Overnight Tuesday Night: A few showers. Lows 40 to 45. Wednesday: More clouds than sun, chance sprinkle. Highs around 60. (Published Tuesday, May 14, 2019)

Low-pressure east of Cape Cod is slowing down and weakening and rain and elevation snow will quickly end Tuesday morning in western and southern New England.

Showers will linger through noontime, then a possible sunny break may appear with high temperature in the 40s to lower 50s. Wind at the coast is gusting from the northeast past 30 mph and will diminish to near calm inland Tuesday afternoon.

In Maine and New Hampshire though, rain and elevation snow may last much of the day. Snowy spots should change to rain by mid-day.

Temperatures will be holding in the 30s to lower 40s. Total snowfall amounts may pass 6 inches in elevations above 2000 feet in New Hampshire and Maine.

The ocean low pressure system is pretty much stalled off Maine Tuesday night into early Wednesday, so that means rain may change back to snow and pick up again in Maine. Otherwise, it's just mostly partly cloudy Tuesday night with a few showers and some patchy fog.

The atmosphere remains unstable Wednesday, with steady precipitation again changing to rain before ending in Maine. But for much of New England, there should be adequate amount of sunshine breaking through the clouds in the afternoon, allowing temperatures to get back to 60 degrees.

Another low pressure system with a front coming in from the west Thursday will bring clouds back with a chance of showers, high temperature in the lower 60s.

Once again, we have a challenging weekend forecast. It looks like a front may stall over us with a chance of showers again Friday. Hopefully, we will get the boundary to lift north with warmer and drier air coming in for the weekend.

Stay tuned to our first alert ten-day forecast for the latest.
