(NECN) - Harvard Professor and Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren took some friendly jabs at her rival, Scott Brown, at Sunday's South Boston St. Patrick's Day Breakfast on Sunday.

As one of the last speakers at the event, Warren chose to skip over the Lt. Gov. Tim Murray jokes, and go straight to the obvious laughs at the expense of the GOP candidates.

"I'm really impressed to be here today. I see all the esteemed officials who are here. It's really terrific. Others have noted that Gov. Patrick is not here. He is, of course, in the favorite place of Rick Santorum, the VIRGIN islands."

She also poked some fun at herself, and Harvard-alum, Jeremy Lin.

"There are some things I've learned. The first one is do not read bloggers' comments. One described me as a typical Harvard egghead: 'Off to a strong start, but who falls apart under pressure.' You read something like that, and I was really mad, and then I realized they were blogging about Jeremy Lin."

Warren also took a few jabs at her competition, Sen. Scott Brown.

"I actually heard that Scott Brown's barn jacket cost $600. Wow - here's a guy who could use a consumer advocate!"

"I learned that things change fast in politics. One day, Scott Brown is a center-fold for Cosmo, the next day he's a poster boy for Goldman Sachs."
