(NECN) - Boston Mayor Tom Menino wants the MBTA bring back the so-called "Night Owl" service.

The service, which ran buses and trains up to 2:30 a.m., was stopped in 2005 because it was too expensive.

An MBTA spokesperson says they would love to bring it back but it's not financially possible right now.

This week, the agency decided to raise fares and cut services in July to close its budget gap.
