Clinton keynote speaker at letter carriers convention

(NECN: Alison King, Boston, Mass.) - Senator Hillary Clinton spoke at the 66th Biennial National Convention of Letter Carriers in Boston this morning. The union was one of the first to support Clinton in her presidential run. But now, on her unity tour of the country, Clinton made it clear to union members who she feels they should endorse.

"I believe this country is worth fighting for and I believe firmly that the best way to continue this fight is to elect Senator Barack Obama the next President of the United States of America."

With that blessing, the NALC did go on to endorse Obama, but it was clear that many members are still stewing.

Republicans were quick to comment on the letter carriers' endorsement of Obama. The party issued a statement saying that this event, featuring Hillary Clinton, underscored the very real divisions that still exist among partisan Democrats.
