A hospital in Maine says it does not have a confirmed case of Ebola after the Centers for Disease Control asked officials to hold a patient for observation.

Maine Medical Center announced Monday that made the request as a precautionary step.

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention says the case is considered to be "low-risk."

"It is important for the public to understand that there is not a confirmed case of Ebola. We will continue to monitor this case closely," said John Martins of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in a statement. "Due to laws pertaining to patient confidentiality, no further details are available at this time.
