Women's Volleyball: US Tops Serbia in 4 Sets

The Americans won the battle of the unbeatens

The U.S. women's volleyball team has its revenge.

Serbia ousted the Americans at the World Cup in Japan last year, but Team USA avenged that loss Wednesday at the Rio Games.

In a preliminary matchup between two undefeated teams, the U.S. squad cruised to a victory over Serbia in four sets (25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 25-19).

Rachael Adams (18 points, four service aces) and Foluke Akinradewo (16 points) led the way for the Americans as they exploited their opponents mistakes, tallying 26 points on Serbia's errors.

The U.S. now has eight points to lead Pool B, one point ahead of China and two ahead of Serbia and the Netherlands.
