2 Hospitalized After Shooting in Boston's Charlestown Neighborhood

Police in Boston are investigating a double shooting in Charlestown

A double shooting in Boston's Charlestown neighborhood has police searching for those responsible and residents searching for answers.

"It's really scary to hear, especially when it happened so close to home, and I just really hope that everyone recovers," one resident said.

"I was just surprised, not scared, but just surprised," another resident said.

Cell phone video captures the moments after two teens were shot. It happened in the area of 274 Main St. just after 9:30. p.m. Wednesday.

According to Boston police, one victim is a 19 year old with non-life threatening injuries; the other victim, a 17 year old, has life threatening injuries.

"Charlestown is a safe neighborhood and we don't have shootings like this so when something like this happens, people are concerned," Boston City Councilor Sal Lamattina said.

The stretch of Main Street is lined with residential units as well as a number of local businesses, prompting city leaders as well as police to canvas the area Thursday letting people know they are doing everything they can.

"We have extra police forces in Charlestown for the next few days and will be working very closely with the community to hopefully solve this shooting," Lamattina said.

"We live in a city so it's definitely something that I've always been aware of, but this definitely makes me even more aware than I've been in the past," a resident said.
