JetBlue Passengers Arrive Safely in Boston After Flight Diverted

(NECN: Josh Brogadir/AP) – Officials say an evacuation slide activated during a flight from Fort Myers, Fla., to Boston, forcing the plane to divert to Orlando International Airport.

Airport spokesman Rod Johnson says JetBlue flight 1266 landed at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday

The diverted flight arrived at Logan Airport in Boston around 10:30 Wednesday night.

JetBlue spokesman Anders Lindstrom explained that the slide partially deployed toward the aircraft's galley. At no point did a door open, and nothing was hanging off the side of the plane.

Lindstrom says the plane has been taken out of service for inspection. He says it's too early to tell what went wrong.

One passenger said, “Everyone was pretty calm and they let us down quickly, but it was a weird feeling. We knew something wasn’t right. It was scary.”

JetBlue will refund the tickets of all of the passengers and provide a free round-trip as well.
