Iron Mountain Preserving Boston Marathon Memorabilia

(NECN) - We're one week away from the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. Following the tragedy, thousands of articles were left at a memorial in Copley Square in Boston. Many of those items are being stored at facility in Northborough, Mass.

Iron Mountain is not only storing the items that were placed at the memorial, they’re preserving them so to be put back on display.

Running shoes, clothing and flowers were collected from the memorial site back in June. Iron Mountain has more than 250 boxes stored at their warehouse. Some items will be displayed at the Boston Public Library next week.

Samantha Joseph says Iron Mountain has inventoried every piece they took from the memorial. Joseph participated in the 2012 marathon.

“Every memorial item that the city needed help preserving, we’ve made an offer to help,” said Joseph.
