Man Found Dead in the Woods in Vt.

(NECN) - A 60-year-old man was found dead of hypothermia in his car over the weekend, according to Vermont State Police.

Around 7:50 a.m. Sunday, Vermont State Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle parked in a field off Sevens Hill Road East in Walden, Vt. The vehicle had been rented by Don Pope of Kingston, N.H.

Pope was found dead by a search team around 6 p.m. Sunday, about a quarter mile from where he left his vehicle. State police said t hey believe he was having "a mental health crisis" and intentionally walked into the woods unprepared for the elements. Preliminary autopsy results revealed his cause of death was hypothermia.
