Family Members Say Body Found in NH River is Missing Maine Man

Police have not yet confirmed

Residents walking along the shore of Great Bay in Newington, New Hampshire found a body that had washed ashore Monday evening.

Family members of missing Eliot, Maine man Adam Camarato said they have been told by police it is his body.

The body of an unidentified male was found in the area of 325 Fox Point Rd., according to a report from the New Hampshire Union Leader. The body was found shortly after 6 p.m. There is no indication of foul play, according to Newington police.

"I just can't seem to find the right words. It's just still so unreal," Camarato's sister, Jamie Fultz, said in a Facebook post. "Adam was such a wonderful person, I do not understand why he was taken from us so soon."

Newington Fire Chief Darin Sabine would not confirm weather or not the body was connected to the disappearance of Camarato.

Camarato, 32, was last seen leaving a Portsmouth, New Hampshire bar around 1 a.m. on April 27.

He had been with a friend at the Clipper Tavern. The friend went to the bathroom, and when he returned, he said Camarato was gone.

Local and state police were at the scene Monday, and Portsmouth police were notified, according to Sabine.

The body was transported to the New Hampshire medical examiners in Concord. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday morning, and police say they hope to have an ID by then.
