Body of Stabbing Victim Found on East Boston Beach

They say a passerby found the body near the waterline around 8 a.m.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating an apparent fatal stabbing after a body was found on Constitution Beach in East Boston Monday morning, according to the Suffolk District Attorney's Office.

They say a passerby found the body near the East Boston Yacht Club around 8 a.m.

The victim, an adult male, had injuries consistent with stab wounds.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause and manner of his death.

Chris Ianno of Somerville, an airplane photography hobbyist, came down with a friend to get pictures of Air Force One and President Obama's aerial entourage as the president visited a Boston Labor Day celebration.

"We noticed -- we were obviously on the other side of the beach -- we noticed that there was a little commotion, and an ambulance driving along the beach, which you never see," Ianno said. He looked through his long-lens camera viewfinder and "as I panned over, we did see a sheet on the ground with somebody under it, and we thought it might have been just, you know, one of the homeless in the area that were here," Ianno said. He was surprised and shocked to learn that the victim may have been stabbed to death.

Officials have not identified the victim.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 617-727-8817.
