A Boston man was arraigned Friday for carrying an illegal firearm on the MBTA, according to transit police.
MBTA authorities said a transit officer working detail on Thursday morning at Government Center station noticed a man who appeared to be unconscious and slumped against the wall. The officer noticed that the man appeared to have a firearm in his waistband.
Police said the officer quickly took possession of the handgun, which authorities said had 3 rounds in the magazine, and was able to wake the man up.
The man was identified as Isiah Chaffon, 19, of Boston.
It was determined that Chaffin did not have a license to carry a firearm and he was arrested.
Police also discovered Chaffin was in possession of controlled narcotics without a prescription and had several warrants issued from Roxbury, Chelsea and Newton District Courts.
Chaffon was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of controlled narcotics.
