The cold weather was not stopping some Boston-area residents from catching the train Saturday morning, and MBTA workers said they are ramping up to make sure trains continue to run during the frigid temperatures.
Temperatures overnight will drop into the single digits, and southern New England will see negative temperatures Sunday morning.
The T plans to run subways and trolleys all night this weekend to keep them ready.
Riders said they were optimistic that trains will work properly since there is little snow.
"Last year was a little tough with all the snow so I guess that's a concern," Pat Murphy said. "Other than that, I haven't really thought about it. It's just the daily commute you know."
Kevin Kensler, also riding the T, was equally unconcerned.
"I think it will be OK," he said. "I mean, there's not six feet of snow on the ground or whatever we had last year. Hopefully, it can just make it through the few days and then it sounds like it's supposed to warm up."
