Chris Christie vs. Donald Trump in New Hampshire

Chris Christie was in no mood to be asked about one of his Republican opponents Tuesday.

He said, "Whatever Donald Trump has said for the date today is quite frankly nothing I have any interest in responding to. I'm running for president."

Christie was surrounded by members of the addicted community and their advocates at Hope for New Hampshire Recovery Center, Christie was asked about his latest back and forth over Trump's claim that Trump saw Muslims celebrating in New Jersey on 9/11.

When first asked about it last week, Christie said he did not recall Muslims celebrating, but did not deny Trump's statement.

Monday, Christie's answer was clearer. He said, It didn't happen. The facts are the facts.

Trump shot back, "He didn't say that the other day. He was very weak the other day. He must be careful with what he says.

Asked by a reporter to respond, Christie said, "You all quite frankly should be ashamed of yourselves. All you do is ask about Donald Trump every place I go. And then I have the press complain to me - why do you think Donald Trump is doing so well? Well man, if you are talking about him 24 hours a day, anybody could do well."

The fact that Christie is now tangling with Trump shows just how far he's come this week in New Hampshire, with the Union Leader Newspaper endorsement and endorsements from prominent state Republicans like former New Hampshire House Speaker Donna Sytek, who described Christie as, "somebody who is very clear about what he stands for and can articulate it and isn't all bravado has some depth."

Asked if Christie's past with Bridgegate or charges of being a bully has hurt him in New Hampshire, Sytek said there is another candidate who is very outspoken and truly is a bully that's ahead in the polls.
