College Suspends Student Informant Program

The University of Massachusetts Amherst has suspended the student informant program after a student died from an overdose

The University of Massachusetts Amherst has suspended the student informant program after a student died from an overdose.

This comes just days after a Boston Globe article exposed an incident, where campus police recruited a student they caught selling LSD to become an informant.

Less than a year later that student died from a heroin overdose.

The school says they will consider revising or ending the program to include mandatory treatment and parental notification.
