The Maine Marine Patrol worked for hours on Saturday to detangle a humpback whale from a net.

Marine Patrol Sergeant Colin MacDonald, along with Scott Landry and Doug Sandilands of the Center for Coastal Studies, worked for a total of four hours to rescue the whale near the coast of Mount Desert Rock.

The 40-foot humpback whale was freed by early evening.
