Ex-Pizza Shop Worker Charged With Raping Teen Co-Worker

Prosecutors say 27-year-old Leonel Olmedo groped the 17-year-old girl on at least two occasions and raped her in January

A former employee of a western Massachusetts pizza parlor has gone on trial for allegedly raping a teenage co-worker while on the job.

Prosecutors say 27-year-old Leonel Olmedo groped the 17-year-old girl on at least two occasions and raped her in January while the two were in the basement of Supreme Pizza in North Adams after he asked her to help him. The pizza shop has since closed.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that opening statements in Olmedo's trial were Tuesday. He has pleaded not guilty to one count of rape and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.

Olmedo's attorney said the relationship between his client and the girl was consensual and there is no evidence that he raped or assaulted her.
