Fire Breaks Out at Unfinished School

Crews battled a 3-alarm fire at an unfinished school Saturday in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The blaze broke out 100 Putnam Ave., the future site of King School. A police officer reported it shortly before 2 p.m. after noticing smoke and flames on the roof.

The heat, the large size of the building and the school being under construction made the fire difficult to extinguish.

Two electricians say they were working in the basement when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported.

It is estimated that the fire caused about $2.5 million in damage.

Officials say the cause does not appear to be suspicious, but it remains under investigation.

Necn has a crew en route to the scene. Check back as this story develops.
