A Chelsea, Massachusetts, firefighter was transported to a hospital Thursday after a car ran over a hose at the scene of a kitchen fire, dragging the firefighter, according to the fire department.

Crews were responding to a fire at 56 Library St. around 2:30 p.m.

While hooking up the line to the hydrant, a car ran it over, causing it to get stuck, which caused the firefighter to be dragged several feet.

He was transported to Mass. General Hospital was treated for road rash.

The car did not stop at the scene. Police are checking surveiliance cameras in the area. They do not have a description of the car.

Police say the incident is under investigation.
