Officials in Wayland, Massachusetts, say frigid temperatures are affecting work on a water main break Thursday morning

Officials in Wayland, Massachusetts, say frigid temperatures are affecting work on a water main break Thursday morning.

The Department of Public Works says the break happened early Thursday morning in the area of Hawthorne Road and Old Connecticut Path.

Crews are unsure of how large the break is because they have not yet reached the pipe.

Backhoes are not working properly due to the weather and crews are moving them inside to warm them up.

Extra crews are on the scene so workers can be rotated in from the cold. Heaters are on the scene as well.

The break is impacting about a dozen people.
