Hundreds Attend Funeral for Woman Killed at Shaw's

Family and friends of a Maine woman who was killed in a supermarket knife attack remembered her as the rock of a beloved family in the community.

About 600 people attended the funeral for Wendy Boudreau of Saco on Tuesday afternoon at Thornton Academy, where she worked in the alumni office for many years.

The 59-year-old woman was shopping on Aug. 19 when she was slashed by 31-year-old Connor MacCalister. She died at a hospital.

Boudreau was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, before moving to Maine at age 5. She graduated from Thornton Academy in Saco and worked as a nurse's aide and office manager for the family business, in addition to working at the school. She'd been married 40 years and had four children and nine grandchildren.
