It was a scary situation for a family in Reading, Massachusetts, on Wednesday afternoon when a large tree came toppling down onto their home.
Joan Wetzel had just come back from a long bike ride and was in the garage when a big oak tree slammed into her home on County Road.
"I heard the crack and I stepped out, and I saw one go over onto the house - took all the wires down," Joan Wetzel said. "Bunch of sparks."
Joan's husband Mark, who is a public works director in another town, says the drought may have played a role in drying out the tree trunk.
"I've seen this happen a couple other places," Mark Wetzel said. "It wasn't that windy. It's been windier. I think some of these big trees are drying out."
Because the tree brought down power lines, the power was also out in the neighborhood for a short time.
The tree fell into a spare bedroom, but right now there's enough damage that the family won't be staying in the house.
