An MBTA Transit Police Department K9 has been awarded a bulletproof and stab proof vest, thanks to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
Zombie is a two-year-old German Shepherd, and is assigned to Officer Brian Burt.
Zombie is certified as both a police service and narcotic detection dog.
The vest will be embroidered with this sentiment: "This gift of protection provided by Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center." The center raised $818 for the vest with a charity dog wash.
