A Rhode Island man is facing drunken driving, weapons and numerous other charges after a fatal crash in Woonsocket early Tuesday morning.
Johnny Sak, 23, of Providence, is charged with driving under the influence - death resulting, reckless driving - death resulting, driving under the influence - serious bodily injury, reckless driving - serious bodily injury, reckless driving - personal injury, driving while in possession of a controlled substance, refusal to submit to a chemical test, driving without a license and assorted motor vehicle violations.
He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, eluding a police officer and driving without a license.
Sak's arraignment and bail information was not immediately available.
Woonsocket Police said they responded to an accident around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of Mendon Road. A motor vehicle with five people inside struck a telephone pole.
Alexandra Patten Parenteau, 22, of Woonsocket, was killed in the crash, according to police. The other four people in the vehicle, including Sak, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
