Man Dies in Stabbing Outside Mass. 7-11

A man was stabbed to death early Saturday morning outside a 7-11 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Tywann Jones, a 35-year-old from Boston's Roxbury neighborhood, was attacked outside the store on the corner of Pleasant Street and Massachusetts Avenue shortly after 1:30 a.m.

Responders transported Jones to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 4:30 a.m.

The area in Central Square was bustling around the time of the attack as bars in the area were closing.

Francis Lambert says he was sitting on a bench with a friend when the crime started to unfold.

"They came speeding down the street, and stopped immediately as soon as they saw him," said Lambert. "The passenger jumped out real quick.”

Lambert says that passenger was yelling and swearing when he got out of the car, and that he came after the victim, who was standing on the sidewalk.

"He grabbed him, and he threw him in the doorway, started hitting him," said Lambert. "Ten seconds later, he walked away, and the other guy got up, walked to 7-11 and passed out on the floor."

The owner of the 7-11 tells necn off-camera that Jones had come into the store with a friend. Moments after leaving he was stabbed, and then stumbled back into the store for help.

"He flopped on the floor," said Lambert.

Jones' family members declined to comment.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan says investigators are looking for two men who hopped out of a dark-colored car, and that detectives are gathering surveillance video from local businesses that could help provide a better description of the people responsible.

"We are asking for the public's help," said Ryan, who added that anyone who may have been in the area or seen anything should come forward.

Investigators say there is likely a connection between the suspects and the victim, but they're not sure what the motive may have been.
