Man Pleads Guilty to Murdering Wife, Watching Her Die in Driveway

A Massachusetts man pleaded guilty to stabbing his wife and watching her die in the driveway of their Rockland home.

Fifty-eight-year-old Richard Langley was supposed to appear at a status hearing in Brockton Superior Court when he changed his plea to guilty in his first degree murder charge for the stabbing of his wife, Patricia Langley, in June 2014.

Plymouth D.A. Timothy Cruz described the crime as "vicious."

"Family members have endured the gruesome details of the senseless, brutal murder of their mother at the hands of their father," he said, adding that he hopes the couple's family will find closure.

On June 11, 2014, police in Rockland responded to the couple's home on Moncrief Road where they found 52-year-old Patricia Langley bleeding out in the driveway from six stab wounds and neighbors rushing to her aid. She was taken to South Shore Hospital, where she died a short time later.

Langley was sentenced to life in prison.

No motive was given by prosecutors.
