Fork lift horns can be heard throughout the Tewksbury, Massachusetts, warehouse- a sound of Market Basket workers finally back on the job.
For 34 years, David Laferriere has worked for the company. He says he heard the news of a deal and immediately came to the warehouse. The assistant warehouse manager says he's been at work since 12 a.m. On Thursday and probably won't get off until late Thursday night. It's no bother to him- he and the employees say they are glad to be back on the job.
"It's been a long six weeks. Everybody is stepping up. You got guys from the other warehouses coming in to help us out for a couple of days to get everything out to the stores," Laferriere said.
"We did the right thing. We truly did the right thing from day one and to see Mr. Demoulas come outside and speak to us, it was amazing," employee Thomas Aylward said.
Carlos Ospiena and Eliah Pazmino are also happy to get back to work.
"My shift is at 3:30. I'm ready to go in again. I'm ready to go in and to do what we love to do for Market Basket," Ospiena said.
"I'm very excited to get back to doing what we do best, and doing it with pride honor and strength. It's amazing," Pazmino added.
Market basket employees say they will work continuously to get shelves stocked at stores. They also said they want to thank the customers who supported them throughout the protests.
