A Massachusetts man on the run now faces a murder charge in connection to his elderly mother's death.
The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office said the murder charge was added to 46-year-old Matthew McAveeney's arrest warrant on Monday in connection to this mother's death. Barbara McAveeney, 70, was found dead in her Winchester apartment on Swanton Street last Tuesday.
Authorities say Barbara McAveeney's cause of death was blunt force trauma to her head. She was found after police did a wellness check at her home.
Matthew McAveeney faces several outstanding warrants, including armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and animal cruelty charges.
Winchester Police say Matthew McAveeney is described at 5-foot 7-inches, weighs about 250 pounds and has a shaved head.
