Officials: Food Stamps Can Be Replaced Due to Storm

Many people had spoiled food as a result of the power outages

New Hampshire's Health Department says food stamp benefits will be replaced for people who were affected by the widespread power outages last week.

Many people had spoiled food as a result of the power outages.

Terry Smith, the director of the department's division of family assistance, said people can request replacement food stamps no later than Dec. 10. A deadline extension has been requested.

To receive replacement food stamp benefits, recipients must provide a signed statement indicating a food loss was due to a power outage related to the storm. The statement must include the total value of the lost food.

An example is provided at nheasy.nh.gov. Clients may also contact either their local district office or call 1-800-852-3345 x 9700.
