Worker Falls to Death in Marlboro, Massachusetts

A 30-year-old construction worker from Arizona was killed after falling nearly 50 feet on the job in Marlboro on Sunday.

The man was working for Colorado Springs-based Alpha Steel Erectors building new ice rinks for the New England Sports Center on Donald Lynch Boulevard when it is believed he fell from an elevated beam.

“We do not yet know name of our late brother, but our thoughts are with his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” said Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety & Health (MassCOSH) Executive Director Jodi Sugerman-Brozan in a press release. “With falls able to cause injury at just four feet, employers must keep their employees who work at heights safe by always using fall prevention systems at all worksites to stem needless loss of life the likes we saw this past Sunday.”

According to a 2017 MassCOSH report, 17 workers died from falls, slips, and trips on the job in 2016. A total of 62 workers died from workplace injuries that year.
