People Gather to Remember ‘Baby Doe' at Candlelight Vigil

Body of a 4-year-old girl was found off the coast of Deer Island in Winthrop, Massachusetts, a month ago

People gathered on Deer Island in Boston Harbor to remember a little girl found dead on a beach last month. Police have been unable to identify the child and organizers of Saturday's vigil are trying to help.

The vigil was organized on Facebook by a Georgetown, Massachusetts mother. "No one's come forward to claim her; no family member, nobody's acknowledged her and I was afraid she'd be forgotten," said Debbie Larson, vigil organizer.

What was supposed to be an intimate gathering grew on social media, the story touching so many.

Abigail Padilla came to pay her respects to the 4-year-old girl found washed ashore the banks of Deer Island. "It breaks my heart.., I can't imagine," she said. "Nobody has claimed her... that's what gets to me."

Since the girl's body was discovered, investigators have released a computer generated image of what they think the 4-year-old may have looked like. Eighty-four electronic billboards throughout Massachusetts share the photo along with the anonymous tip line and number to text. They're hoping any clue can help identify this innocent child.
