Police: 1 Dead in Shooting Outside McDonald's

Death is 10th homicide of the year in Springfield, Mass.

Police say one man is dead after a shooting that apparently started as an altercation near the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant in Springfield.

Officers responded to a McDonald's in the city's Sixteen Acres neighborhood at about 2 a.m. Friday for reports of a shooting.

Springfield Police found a Nissan Frontier crashed into a pole. The passenger said that the driver, 25-year-old Keith Gendreau of Agawam, had been shot.

Gendreau was transported to Baystate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the passenger, another vehicle pulled up to the driver's side before a man shot Gendreau.

The death is the city's 10th homicide of the year.
