Police Investigate Fiery Car Crash That Knocked Out Power

Authorities are investigating a fiery car crash in Massachusetts that knocked out electricity for nearby residents.

Shirley police say officers and firefighters responded to the crash on Lawton Road just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, where they found a 2017 Kia Sorrento SUV that had hit a utility pole and was on fire - but no driver at the scene.

Officers then learned the driver, identified only as a 25-year-old man from Shirley, had walked home and was taken to a local hospital by family. His condition is unknown.

Police say he will be cited for leaving the scene of a crash and reckless driving.

It's unclear when the power was restored for nearby residents.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
