Diner Closes After Mass. AG Files Sex Harassment Complaint

The complaints alleged cooks would grab their arms and bring them into the walk-in freezer

A popular diner in western Massachusetts has abruptly been closed after Attorney General Maura Healey filed a complaint that female employees there had been sexually harassed over the last decade.

At least two former waitresses at the "Route 9 Diner" in Hadley filed complaints, claiming they'd been subjected to sexualized comments and unwanted touching by some of the cooks.

Healey filed the discrimination complaint on Friday with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.

The complaint alleged cooks would grab their arms and bring them into the walk-in freezer.

Kayleigh Scott, regular customer of the diner, said, “I don't think anyone had a clue until they saw that article all over Facebook one day. If those were actually true allegations I think they should've closed down, absolutely.”

One of the former waitresses, who did not file a complaint says the allegations are untrue and added, since she's now out of a job, she wouldn't lie to protect her former employer.

The two women who did file complaints both declined to comment.
