Partial Roof Collapse at Old Bayside Expo Center

Authorities say no one was injured when a portion of the roof of Boston's vacant Bayside Expo Center collapsed.

The Boston Fire Department responded to the building at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The roof section that collapsed was about 100 feet by 100 feet.

The building is unoccupied and is slated for demolition.

Natural gas to the building was shut off.

A partial roof collapse was also reported at a Wareham tire store. Officials say a section of roof at Cape & Islands Tire collapsed at 4:15 a.m. No one was inside at the time.

Nearly 200 roof collapses have been reported to state emergency management officials since Feb. 9, most due to the weight of snow. The region received about 2 inches of heavy wet snow Tuesday.
