Police in Brockton, Massachusetts, are investigating after shots were fired into a bedroom where two children were sleeping.
Bullets hit at least two houses in the neighborhood early Thursday morning. One of them ended up in the ceiling over the bed where 5-year-old Giavanna Matos was sleeping on West Harvard Street.
"You try to search for words to explain it," said the child's grandmother, Lori MacMurdo. "There aren't any."
The family knows it could have been worse.
"I may not have been sitting here," said MacMurdo. "I could have been at a funeral parlor."
