Massachusetts State Police assisted the Springfield Police Department with a house fire Tuesday morning.
Around 10 a.m., police responded to the blaze at 873 Worthington Street. Witnesses said the resident of the home was a disabled woman and she could possibly be inside. After a search, they determined no one was inside the home.
Upon exiting the building, officers noticed vinyl siding on the home next door began to melt. Troopers evacuated a woman and her two infants from the home.
The Springfield Fire Department is investigating.
