Vigil Held for 2 Children Killed in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Fire

9-year-old Kelvin Medina and his 4-year-old brother, Jean Carlos Marrero Santiago, were killed in a 4-alarm fire

Family members of two little boys killed in a Lawrence, Massachusetts, fire prayed and held each other Thursday outside the burned Kingston Street house.

Nine-year-old Kelvin Medina and his 4-year-old brother, Jean Carlos Marrero Santiago, were killed in Tuesday's four alarm fire.

"He was going to be 5 years old, 5 years old," said Jean Carlos' sobbing dad, Anthony Marrero.

"He used to know the time I came home from work. I opened the door and that kid was there. 'Daddy you're home,'" remembered Marrero.

The loss of the two boys has shaken the Lawrence community.

Hundreds also showed their support for the families at a candlelight vigil Thursday night at the Wetherbee School.

"Everyplace you go, somebody is talking about the loss of the little boys, you don't have to know them to feel the loss," Lawrence resident Donna Hicks said.

The State Fire Marshal said the cause of the fire is accidental and started in some electrical wiring.

For everyone who tried to rescue the boys, including firefighters, the pain is unbearable.

Autopsies are now being conducted before the boys are laid to rest.
