    NEWSLETTERS

Mountain snow will continue. Mix of sun and clouds at the coast. Windy and cool. Highs near 40 at the coast, low to mid 30s inland. (Published Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016)

This is the first “major” snow storm of the season for the higher elevations of western Massachusetts and Vermont.

By Monday night, a few locations will likely hit 18”! We are seeing a fetch of Lake Effect Snow extending east to western New England. As the westerly winds increase and hit the higher elevations, the Lake Effect snow is enhanced, especially in Berkshire County. As of this blog post there was a 2” per hour snowfall rate recorded in Lenox, Massachusetts.

Snow will continue through the day on Monday in the hill-towns of western Massachusetts and Vermont. By Monday evening it will taper to snow showers.

Wind will continue to gust between 40 and 50 mph through the day on Monday. That will be strong enough to cause some isolated power outages. Scattered to widespread power outages will be possible where we have heavy wet snow AND high winds.

Temperatures stay cool for the remainder of the week. Wind chills will drop as low as the teens on Monday.

Our next round of unsettled weather will arrive on Thanksgiving Day. It’s too early to tell if it will bring showers or some light snow.
