Charlie Baker Up Big in Latest Massachusetts Governor Poll

A new Boston Globe survey has the Republican candidate with a 9 percent lead over his Democratic rival

A new poll shows Republican Charlie Baker opening up a lead over Democrat Martha Coakley in the race for Massachusetts governor.

The Boston Globe survey shows Baker with a nine point lead, 45 percent to 36 percent. Last week, the same poll showed the candidates in a dead heat.

The Globe said Baker has picked up support from independent voters. Evan Falchuk, Jeffrey McCormick and Scott Lively are also running for governor.

NECN will host a Massachusetts governor's debate Monday at 8 p.m. in Worcester between Baker and Coakley.
