Famous groundhog charged with misinterpretation of spring after his prediction proves woefully off (Published Saturday, Feb 1, 2014)

(NECN) - This Groundhog Day, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring.

Now, with snow still on the ground,  it looks like Phil was a little off.

An Ohio prosecutor says he's so upset with the mistake that he's issued an indictment for the groundhog.

Mike Gmoser is charging Phil with misrepresentation of spring.

He jokes that the punishment for that felony is the death penalty.

Still, Phil’s keepers say not to worry,  Phil has a lawyer and he's ready to fight the charge.
