Blizzard cleanup has been slow, but progress is being made in the Hub (Published Friday, Jan. 17, 2014)

(NECN: Justin Michaels, Boston) - The blizzard recovery process has been a slow one for Boston, but things are beginning to return to normal - as students head back to school.

The MassDOT has lifted its temporary ban on peak-hour breakdown lane travel on I-95 and Rt. 3. Motorists were allowed to return to using those lanes during Wednesday morning's commute.

In Massachusetts - where the largest number of power outages were reported earlier in the week - the power outage number dropped down to just over 5,000 as of Wednesday morning.
