(NECN) - The death of Tim Samaras, his son and one other crew member in Oklahoma has touched off a debate over the risks of storm chasing.
NECN Meteorologist Matt Noyes and storm chaser Richard Hamel joined Broadside to weigh in on the dangers. Hamel works for AECo., a local environmental company, and moonlights for Silver Lining Tours, which is a storm chasing tour company.
"Tim was one of the most respected storm chasers out there. A guy who was very methodical about his process," Hamel, who says Samaras influenced him.
