Leominster, Mass. Mayor: Worse Than '08

(NEC: Tom Langford: Leominster, Mass.) - School is canceled in Leominster on Monday, where 90 percent of the north central Massachusetts city is without power.

It could be four or five days before power is restored.

Mayor Dean Mazzarella says that National Grid is reporting that 17 of its main transmission lines are down, and that the repair work needs to start at substations before it spreads out to the neighborhoods.

He invites those with no place to go to seek shelter at the the city's Southeast Elementary School, where food and beds will be provided.
