(NECN/KFVS) - A levee protecting the Missouri town of Poplar Bluff from major flooding hs breached, according to police.
Authorities are planning to evacuate residents from more homes in the area. About 1,000 homes were evacuated on Monday. Some have been flooded by water from the Black River that has poured over the levee in about 30 locations.
Crews are looking into a report of a possible second breach.
