Major Flooding Forces Evacuations in Vermont

(NECN) - There has been major flooding in central Vermont. Rising water has forced people in Montpelier, Barre and Berlin to evacuate their homes.

People are being warned not to drive because the rising Winooski River has washed out roads. Some communities have seen more than seven inches of rain after a long night of severe weather.

State offices in Vermont are opening late, and all non-essential workers in affected communities are being told to stay home.
