Thursday Snowfall Not Expected to Be Significant for Many, Though Central New England Freezing Rain Will Cause Some Problems

Northern New England is expected to receive the bulk of the snow from Thursday night/Friday's storm.  Ski areas will do well, but the biggest beneficiaries are likely to be the snowmobiling trails of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, Northern New Hampshire, and Northern/Northwestern Maine.  Farther south, less wintry precipitation is expected.  Central New England is likely to see a couple of inches of snowfall before a change to sleet and freezing rain, which should cause icy spots along/north of Route 2 in Northern Massachusetts (outside of Route 495) into Southern Vermont and Southern/Central New Hampshire.  Farther south, a brief burst of snow and mix late Thursday evening into the first part of the night is likely to flip to rain after midnight, with heavy rain Friday morning.
