Boston PD Accused of Spying on Anti-war Groups

(NECN) - The Boston Police Department has been accused of illegally spying on anti-war groups.

The allegations in a lawsuit have been filed by the National Lawyers Guild and the American Civil Liberties Union.

According to the court documents, Boston Police conducted surveillance on anti-war groups - between 2007 and 2008 - that have no affiliation with crime or terrorism.

Civil rights groups say that was a violation of federal regulations.

In a statement, the Boston Police Department said it does not conduct surveillance without specific information on suspected criminal activity.
