Man Killed in East Boston Industrial Accident

(NECN: Josh Brogadir, Boston) - Investigators were at the scene of a deadly accident at the Boston harbor shipyard Monday.

Authorities say a man working at Boston Bridge and Steel was crushed by metal and killed shortly after 6 p.m. inside a building, which is on Massport property off of Logan Airport.

Emergency workers responded, but could not save him.

While investigators from Massachusetts State Police and the Suffolk District Attorney's Office try to uncover how this happened, friends are remembering the man, who was in his 40s, as good man from El Salvador, where his wife and two teenage daughters live. He also had a son. Friends say he had worked at the company for about 10 years.

Lourdes Tercero's husband was inside working with his friend when it all happened. Talking to his wife after, he started to cry.

"He told me he was a good worker, a good worker. It pains me. He was just working but I don't know. The truth is, is I don't know what happened in there. I know they always follow the proper safety rules, so I just don't know," she says.

It's still very early in the investigation, but at this point authorities say they do believe it was an accident.

Boston Bridge and Steel says they're processing information, letting the investigation go on at this time.
